Prior to the opening of the Warehouse the Material Unit Leader identifies the storage area to be used for County materials, oversees the Warehouse appointed staff, and acts as the Liaison for the Partner Warehouse.
The Material Unit Leader is in charge of all the movement of materials from the delivery point at the loading dock to the storage section, and back to the loading dock. The Material Unit Leader is expected to receive order paperwork from the Order Management Unit Leader and arrange for order(s) to be:
- Counted and stocked (if material is incoming)
- Picked and staged (if material is outgoing)
This person supervises:
- Material Movers - Warehouse personnel who are trained in the usage of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other Warehouse equipment used in Material movement.
- Order Pickers - Warehouse personnel who will follow a printed pick list to assemble an order and prepare for delivery in the staging area.
The Material Unit Leader also serves as the Liaison for the host Warehouse. Before arrival of the first order, they will work with the RSS Warehouse Manager to identify the storage location(s) for all of the incoming materials. This person oversees the counting of all incoming inventory so that the counts may be entered into the Inventory Management system. Once pick lists for outgoing orders are printed, this person also oversees the picking process. Because of the nature of the equipment, system, and facility knowledge, this person is typically a host Warehouse staff member.
This person also serves as the liaison between the on-site County Staff and the host Warehouse.
