Loading Dock Unit Leader

Loading Dock Unit Leader

The Loading Dock Unit Leader checks all of the outgoing orders. This includes:

  • Verifying that the order has been picked correctly
  • Overseeing pallet wrapping
  • Assuring that all labels and paperwork are properly affixed to the pallets
  • Overseeing vehicle loading
  • Assures delivery vehicles have rounting directions

All of the vehicles arriving to pick-up orders will have their order paperwork and routing instructions with them. It is the Loading Dock Unit Leader’s responsibility to verify that the driver has these items and is familiar with any chain of custody procedures which are in effect. This can be a challenging job, as some of the vehicles coming to pick-up orders may be small pick-ups, vans, etc. which will need to be loaded differently than large commercial trucks.

The Loading Dock Unit Leader signs off on every outgoing order. Because this function relates to material responsibility, it will always be staffed by County-appointed staff. This position works very closely with personnel who are qualified to operate the machinery necessary to load the delivery.
