Set-up

Set-up Space

Once the County contacts the Partner RSS Warehouse representative, your business will begin preparation to receive materials, which would include setting up the area where materials are to be stored.

When setting up the Partner RSS Warehouse, these four things need to be considered:

Safety:

The county personnel arriving at the warehouse will coordinate with warehouse staff to identify safety procedures, instructions, and equipment. During the staff briefing at the beginning of each shift, warehouse staff will provide a safety briefing for all personnel working in the warehouse during that shift. Warehouse operations pose hazards that can cause injuries and fatalities. Worker safety is the most important part of warehouse operation. It is everyone’s responsibility to identify, avoid, and prevent hazards and unsafe conditions.

Staff Roles:

There are two kinds of staff working in the Partner RSS Warehouse; County staff and Partner staff.

  • County-provided staff include the Warehouse Manager, Security Unit Leader, Order Management Unit Leader, Loading Dock Unit Leader, any necessary security personnel, Inventory Management System Specialists, Mapping System Specialists, and/or Runners. County staff are in charge of monitoring orders and inventory while it is on the premises, while maintaining communications with other County agencies.

  • Partner Staff include the Material Unit Leader, all Material Movers, Order Pickers, and Loaders. Partner staff are in charge of material movement, picking, and packaging for pick-up by County vehicles.

Security:

It is important to have security both for the safety of the workers and the medication storage itself. County Security coordinators work with Loss Prevention and security staff at your facility to ensure that everything remains safe throughout the duration of the operation.

Location and Layout:

Most of the layout considerations for operating a warehouse are items which are present in the facility all day/every day – such as storage areas, receiving docks, and staging areas; this is what makes a Partner warehouse so valuable. County Personnel will be given an area to work within by the warehouse Partner. This area will be conveniently close to warehouse operations, but not exposed to warehouse noise.
