There will be a mixture of County and Warehouse staff working together at this Warehouse for the duration of its operation. This means that while County staff will need to educate Warehouse staff in shipping procedures (as they pertain to the County’s Inventory Management System), Warehouse staff will need to educate County staff in basic Warehouse safety.

County-Appointed staff come from a wide variety of backgrounds (most of which DO NOT include Warehousing). County staff are trained specifically to know:
  1. The Inventory Management System being used
  2. Chain of Custody procedures in use
  3. Temperature control requirements of stock
  4. Delivery protocols for each County involved

Because of the nature of their training, County-appointed staff should be able to answer questions from Warehouse staff regarding paperwork necessities, expected delivery truck arrival times, and any other procedures that are deemed necessary. County staff usually fill the Order Management Unit in its entirety, the Loading Dock Unit Leader, and the RSS Warehouse Manager.

Warehouse staff are persons who work within the host Warehouse everyday. Warehouse staff are considered experts in:
  1. Material movement
  2. Material stocking
  3. Order picking
  4. Order staging and preparation for delivery

Warehouse staff utilize the machinery involved and perform these tasks everyday. They are very knowledgeable in how their Warehouse runs and should be treated as Subject Matter Experts regarding to the movement of physical products. Warehouse staff usually fill the Material Unit in its entirety, the Loader, and assist with Security.

The Security Unit Leader and Security Personnel are typically a combination of Warehouse security/loss prevention staff and uniformed Law Enforcement personnel. This can include California Highway Patrol, a local sheriff’s department, and/or City police department. The Security personnel sent by the County will be acquainted with the site and its individual needs before they arrive.
